Expedition Overview
The High Atlas Mountains in Morocco are host to North Africa's highest mountain, Jbel Toubkal 4167m. This expedition provides a fantastic introduction to high altitude mountaineering. Toubkal is classed a non technical trekking summit. But winter brings a whole new set of challenges. Ice Axe and Crampons will be essential and at times you may be roped to your guide for safety.
We'll spend 5 days in the mountains with 3 full days trekking out of the CAF Refuge. This will give us the opportunity to climb up to five 4000m summits. This also gives us a 3 day weather window to tackle the Toubkal summit.
You'll learn about the process of acclimatisation, altitude sickness, working with local guides and porters and living in mountain refuges. All of these skills will provide a great foundation for future expeditions into the Great Mountain Ranges.
