The winter mountain environment can be a beautiful and brutal place to be. Join our Winter Skills Courses and learn crampon and ice-axe skills to move confidently and safely. You'll learn the knowledge needed to make those critical winter mountaineering decisions to keep you safe.
This introduction to winter skills course will give you a taste of the mountains in real winter conditions. We'll introduce the ice axe and crampons, basic winter navigation, snow knowledge, extra kit needed for the winter and a whole lot more. This 1 day course runs in the Lake District.
Our 2 day winter skills course takes it a bit further. We'll work on movement on steep ground, ice axe self arrest, emergency snow shelters, avalanche awareness, navigating in poor visibility and more. This 2 day winter course runs in the Cairngorms.
This intensive winter mountaineering course will give you the opportunity to cover all of the core winter skills on the 2 day course and then develop key ropework techniques to build snow anchors and create belays to get you ready for those first winter graded adventures. This 3 day winter course runs in the Cairngorms.
Get ready for the classic winter climbing routes. You'll develop essential winter climbing skills, ropework and technical winter skills to keep you safe on winter routes. This 2 day winter course is based in the cairngorms and aimed at preparing you for your first winter climb.
