The winter mountain environment can be a brutal and beautiful place all at the same time. We'll teach you crampon and ice-axe skills to move confidently. And give you the knowledge needed to make those critical mountaineering decisions to keep you safe.
This introduction to winter skills will give you a taste of the mountains in real winter conditions. We'll introduce the ice axe and crampons, basic winter navigation, snow knowledge, extra kit needed for the winter and a whole lot more. This 1 day course runs in the Lake District.
Intermediate winter skills takes it a bit further. We'll work on movement on steep ground, ice axe self arrest, emergency snow shelters, avalanche awareness, navigating in poor visibility and more. This 2 day course runs in the Lake District, Glencoe and Cairngorm.
This 3 day epic will give you the opportunity to cover all of the intermediate winter skills before putting those new skills into practice on some classic Scottish Winter routes. This course runs in the Cairngorms.
