Ben Nevis - Outdoor Adventure Girls

Guided Walk Information

Ben Nevis 1345m is the highest mountain in Britain. Join the Outdoor Adventure Girls and a team of experienced Mountain Leaders on a guided ascent of Britain's highest and most famous mountain.

We set off from the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre in Glen Nevis and head up the Mountain Path.  The path starts with a comfortable incline to get you warmed up.  But before you know it you'll be gaining height and enjoying your first views of the glen.  It'll be a comfortable and sociable pace throughout the day with lots of rests so you can catch your breath and enjoy the views.

There'll be time to take a break at the half way lochan 670m (Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe).  From here we'll start ascending the infamous and never ending zigzags up to the summit plateau.

Once above the zigzags it feels like you're close to the summit but there's still another 30 minutes to go!  We'll climb the snow bank and then skirt round the north face gully rims before finally reaching the old observatory and the summit cairn.  You will literally be standing on the top of Britain!

We'll take plenty of breaks on the way back down and aim to be back in Fort William for victory drinks at around 5pm. Don't forget to buy your guide a beer!

Meeting Point, Parking and Toilets

Please arrive at the meeting point promptly and ready to head up the mountain. You'll receive a safety brief and be allocated to a guide. There's plenty of parking at the Tourist Information centre.  And there are public toilets there too.

Food, Drink and Kit

Ben Nevis summit is often 10 degrees colder than the glen so warm layers are essential!

You’ll need to bring a packed lunch and a drink. A flask is recommended for colder days. On warmer days we'd recommend 2 litres of water.

  • Waterproof jacket and trousers.
  • Hat and gloves.
  • An extra warm top in your rucksack.
  • Sun glasses and sun cream. We can hope!
  • Walking boots or trail shoes.  No trainers please.
  • Packed lunch and snacks.
  • We recommend 2 litres of water on warmer days.
  • No alcohol until we're off the mountain path please.  Coffee/Hot Chocolate/Alcoholic rehydration begins at the first pub back in Fort William.

Consent Form

You'll be provided with a consent form to complete when you meet your guide. If there are any medical conditions we need to know about, please record this on the consent form and make sure your guide is aware.
